Why Kate decided to consider living simply:

  • Life feels more complicatedthan it needs to be.
  • To have less financila pressure.
  • To have more time to walk/read/see friends/learning things
  • To have less dependency on others to make/fix stuff
  • To have more time for garden /veg bed/animals and be more self sufficient
  • To use less resources and reduce impact on environment
  • To counter our throw-away culture and needless waste.
  • Because I don’t want to reget I didn’t give it a go.

To counter overbying make a thing of all the things you brought in the previous year; and make a list of all the things you think you will need for the year ahead. Consider only buying from that list – to avoid impulse buying.

The book showed a USFA (US Food Administration) Poster Published in 1917; with some points on Food.

  1. Buy it with thought
  2. Cook it wiht care
  3. Use less wheat and meat
  4. Buy local foods
  5. Serve just enought
  6. Use Waht is left

Humble talked about how this is just as relevent now as then.

In the conclusion of the book Humble begins:

Living simply – or tryign to live more simply, which is, perhaps, a more honest assessment of what I’m attempting – is, it turns out, nto alwasy simply. It involes not just a change in mindset, but a shift in habits and a different use of time.
