Why Kate decided to consider living simply:
- Life feels more complicatedthan it needs to be.
- To have less financila pressure.
- To have more time to walk/read/see friends/learning things
- To have less dependency on others to make/fix stuff
- To have more time for garden /veg bed/animals and be more self sufficient
- To use less resources and reduce impact on environment
- To counter our throw-away culture and needless waste.
- Because I don’t want to reget I didn’t give it a go.
To counter overbying make a thing of all the things you brought in the previous year; and make a list of all the things you think you will need for the year ahead. Consider only buying from that list – to avoid impulse buying.
The book showed a USFA (US Food Administration) Poster Published in 1917; with some points on Food.

Humble talked about how this is just as relevent now as then.
In the conclusion of the book Humble begins:
Living simply – or tryign to live more simply, which is, perhaps, a more honest assessment of what I’m attempting – is, it turns out, nto alwasy simply. It involes not just a change in mindset, but a shift in habits and a different use of time.
