Ingredients

  • 500g smoked bacon , finely chopped
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • About 500g dried cannellini beans (soaked and cooked)
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 2 tsp dreid oregano
  • 1000g tomato passata
  • 400ml chicken stock
  • 2 tbsp black treacle
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp light brown soft sugar
  • 3 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Method

  1. In a large pan fry the bacon and onion untlil the backen is crisp and onion is translucent.
  2. Stir in all the other ingredients (except for the beans)
  3. Bring to the boil and simmmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the beans and stir through.
  5. Check seasoning and add some pepper.
  6. Cook until sauce is reduced and thickened.

Serve with scambled eggs and sausages.
